OUR MISSION

Butterfly Therapies, Inc. is dedicated to supporting each child’s development through a holistic, relationship‑centered approach to occupational therapy. We place strong emphasis on family involvement and education, ensuring caregivers feel informed, empowered, and included throughout the therapeutic process. Collaboration with the full care team is central to our work, allowing us to create an integrated, consistent, and meaningful experience for every child. We believe deeply in the potential within each child, and our purpose is to nurture that growth with compassion, expertise, and intention.

Founded in 2009 by Karyn, Butterfly Therapies, Inc. grew from her lifelong vision of creating a warm, client‑centered environment where children can truly thrive. By intentionally maintaining a smaller, personalized setting, Karyn and her team are able to tailor each session to the unique needs of every child. This commitment to individualized care, advanced practice, and whole‑child support continues to guide our mission and the exceptional occupational therapy services we provide.

Karyn Buky, OTL

Karyn is an occupational therapist with more than 28 years of experience supporting individuals across the lifespan—from young children to older adults—in hospitals, schools, homes, and community-based programs. After graduating magna cum laude from Pacific University, she began her career focusing on neurological rehabilitation, a passion that continues to guide her work today.

Deeply rooted in the communities she serves, Karyn remains active through teaching, mentoring, and volunteering. She brings extensive experience from both private practice and school-based settings, working with children who present with a wide range of needs. Her areas of specialty include sensory processing disorder, Autism, trauma, visual‑motor challenges, behavioral regulation, and handwriting development. Karyn has advanced training in Astronaut Training, Therapeutic Listening, and Handwriting Without Tears, allowing her to integrate specialized, evidence‑informed approaches into her sessions. Families appreciate her ability to blend clinical expertise with warmth, creativity, and a deep respect for each child’s unique strengths.

Outside of work, Karyn finds joy in gardening, hiking, reading, and exploring the outdoors with her two pups, Jack and Shasta. She is always on the lookout for the next breathtaking sunset.

Fun fact: Karyn grew up on a farm surrounded by horses, chickens, ducks, geese, and goats—a childhood that shaped her love for nature and animals.

Rachel Ebiner, MOTR/L

Rachel is a licensed and registered occupational therapist who brings heartfelt dedication to her work in outpatient settings, supporting children as they overcome sensory processing challenges. Her expertise spans Therapeutic Listening, Astronaut Training, and Handwriting Without Tears, reflecting her commitment to innovative and effective therapies. Rachel's deep passion for sensory processing inspired her to create a sensory camp designed to nurture skill development, self-regulation, and social growth among school-aged children. She finds joy in empowering children to conquer new and difficult tasks, fostering their independence, and helping them build lasting confidence in their abilities.

Rachel earned her bachelor’s degree in Public Health Policy with a minor in Psychology and Social Behavior from the University of California, Irvine. She furthered her education with a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from California State University, Dominguez Hills, where she was honored as a member of the Pi Theta Epsilon Honor Society. Rachel’s professional journey includes valuable experience as a school-based occupational therapist and as a registered behavior technician, delivering applied behavior analysis (ABA) services to children in both home and school environments.

Outside of work, Rachel cherishes watching her baby grow, enjoys riding her Peloton, and loves spending time with her playful pup, Zoey.

Fun fact: Rachel’s enjoys tandem bike racing, a special activity she shares with her father!

Annie Pham, MOTR/L

Annie is a licensed and registered occupational therapist with experience supporting children in outpatient settings, helping them build functional skills, strengthen self‑regulation, and enhance their social‑emotional well‑being. She is trained in Astronaut Training, Therapeutic Listening, and Handwriting Without Tears, and she brings a thoughtful, child‑centered approach to every session. Annie has always been passionate about working with children and empowering them to grow in independence and confidence by equipping both them and their families with practical tools and supportive guidance.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Social Behavior from the University of California, Irvine, and went on to complete her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy at West Coast University, where she served as president of the Students of Occupational Therapy Association. Her academic and leadership experiences continue to shape her commitment to collaboration, compassion, and evidence‑informed practice.

Outside of work, Annie enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching her favorite shows, cooking, and going to concerts.

Fun fact: Annie delivered her niece in the family living room—an unforgettable moment that her family still talks about!

Christina Rothfuss, OTD, OTR/L

Christina is a licensed and registered occupational therapist who is passionate about helping children reach their fullest potential while supporting families every step of the way. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science and Health, and went on to complete her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy at the Southern California University of Health Sciences. Christina values building meaningful connections with the families she serves and empowering children to grow, explore, and thrive in their daily lives.

She brings a warm, collaborative approach to her work, focusing on creating engaging, purposeful experiences that nurture confidence and independence. Christina believes deeply in the power of play, curiosity, and supportive relationships to help children discover what they are capable of.

Outside the clinic, Christina enjoys spending time at Huntington Dog Beach with her husband and their golden retriever, gathering with family, and hosting game nights with friends.

Fun fact: Christina has a twin sister!
